Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights or nights only), assignment varies based on 4-week scheduling periods and departmental needs. Patient ratio 1:2. 24-bed unit with daily census of 23 patients.
Highlights:
- Advanced critical care environment treating complex, hemodynamically compromised adult and geriatric patients
- Comprehensive case mix including oncologic emergencies, ARDS, sepsis, COPD, GI bleeds, and neuromuscular disorders
- Specialized procedures: mechanical ventilation, CRRT (NxStage machines), pulmonary artery catheter placement, arterial pressure monitoring, chemotherapy administration, and plasmapheresis
- Epic charting system with interdisciplinary support including interpretation services
- 72-hour orientation with opportunities for two pre-approved time-off periods during contract
- Advanced equipment including Cortrak NG/Dobhoff placement, Alaris IV pumps, and GE monitors
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of current MICU or ICU experience (must be actively working in specialty within the last 12 months)
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Proficiency in ventilator management, IV starts, arterial line management, central line care, vasoactive/cardiac drip titration, and continuous IV sedation
- Experience with blood product administration, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, and interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias
- Education from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred (first-time travelers not accepted for this assignment)
- Two professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal supervisor)
