Description

American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN for a high-acuity cardiac PCU with strong telemetry and cardiac drip experience required.

Details

• High-acuity, cardiac-focused Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
• Frequent admissions/discharges with significant procedural volume
• No ventilator patients on this unit
• Common patient populations include heart failure, A-Fib, A-Flutter, SVT, VTach, VFib, FVO, chest pain, HTN, congenital heart disease, and LVAD/heart transplant patients
• Common procedures include right and left heart catheterizations, TR band management, sheath removal, stent placement, valve replacement, STEMI/NSTEMI care, pacemakers, ICDs, cardioversions, and ablations
• 3x12 NOC shift schedule, 36 hours per week
• No on-call requirements
• EPIC EMR experience required
• May float to similar cardiac/PCU units but not to Cardiac Monitor Tech roles

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
• Experience with cardiac drips including insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, lasix, and nitroglycerin
• Must independently interpret cardiac rhythms and pass a proctored, paper-based Dysrhythmia Exam using calipers on the first attempt
• Must rate a 4 on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist
• Chest tube experience required
• Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred, with training available if needed
• Full SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide bedside care for high-acuity cardiac and PCU patients across a wide range of cardiac conditions and procedures
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Nurse manager interviews all candidates prior to placement
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Former Emory or Houston perm staff must be separated for at least 1 year before returning to the health system, or 18 months if returning to the same facility
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days if not on or near a holiday, or 3 days if on or near a holiday, with only one holiday request allowed
