Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring PCU-level neuro patient experience and OH or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) setting caring for neuro stepdown patients
  • 36 hours per week on night shift (3x12, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays required
  • Floating required within OSU facilities
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 1 year of PCU-level RN experience with neuro patients required
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Neuro skills required including craniotomy, CVA, intracranial bleeds, post-TPA care, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury care
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral line care/management required
  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management skills required
  • Experience with Heparin protocols and isolation precautions/PPE required
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN reference is acceptable as the second; coworker references are not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care for neuro stepdown patients including monitoring, medication management, and emergency response for dysrhythmias
  • Administer oxygen via nasal cannula and manage respiratory needs as required
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing their contract due to strict compliance timelines
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
  • Requested time off must be submitted with the initial application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, though candidates with only 1 year of experience are subject to manager review before an offer is made
