Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU Float night position requiring telemetry and IV start experience, with an OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool position within a hospital setting
  • May float to another OSU-affiliated hospital located a short walk away with no commute required
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
  • Weekend shifts may be required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Cardiac telemetry and stepdown/PCU/IMC patient population

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 1 year of recent step-down/PCU experience required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
  • Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration not required)
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities may include IV therapy, arterial and central line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management
  • Respiratory care duties may include BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • May involve wound care, wound vac management, and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Additional clinical exposure may include IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, and pre/post neurosurgery care
  • Participates in rapid response and code team activations as needed
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Ohio fingerprinting must be completed promptly after contract signing due to strict compliance deadlines
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for this traveler position
  • Requested time off must be submitted with the contract and is limited to 7 days or less
