Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift role requiring PCU experience with neuro patients and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting, also referred to as Neuro Stepdown/DOU/IMC
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays required
  • Estimated patient ratio of 1:4
  • Floating to other units within the health system required as needed
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required, including experience with neuro patients
  • Neuro skills required, including craniotomy, CVA, intracranial bleeds, post-TPA care, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury care
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral line care/management required
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Heparin protocols
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and oxygen administration via nasal cannula
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or Supervisor; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references are not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for a neurological and medical-surgical stepdown patient population
  • Fingerprinting must be completed urgently in Ohio immediately after contract signing due to strict state credentialing timelines
  • Candidates located outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location promptly after booking
  • Candidates located far from Ohio will be mailed a fingerprinting packet to complete urgently upon receipt
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract prior to start, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for at least 6 months
  • Current employees of the health system are not eligible for travel assignments at any of its hospital locations
