Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring PCU experience with neuro patients and OH or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown setting with a focus on Neuro Stepdown patients
  • 36 hours per week on night shift (3x12s, 19:00-7:30)
  • Rotating weekdays and weekends with rotating holiday coverage
  • Float required within the OSU health system
  • EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of PCU-level RN experience required, specifically with neuro patients
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Required neuro skills include craniotomy, CVA, intracranial bleeds, post-TPA care, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury care
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral line care/management required
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Heparin protocols required
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration required
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care to PCU/stepdown patients with a focus on neurological and neurosurgical conditions
  • Candidates with only 1 year of experience will require manager review prior to offer
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Locals are accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees are eligible for assignment consideration after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
  • RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract, including travel to a fingerprinting location if within driving distance or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet if not
