Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on an adult medical/surgical telemetry unit serving a geriatric population with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under a Family Medicine service
- Care for Department of Corrections patients within a secured, locked wing accompanied by a corrections officer at all times
- Perform IV starts and monitor patients on telemetry, identifying and responding to cardiac rhythms including lethal arrhythmias
- Float to other units as needed based on staffing requirements
- Adhere to scheduling guidelines including a maximum of 2 day/night rotations per 6-week scheduling period and a minimum of 36 hours off between night and day shift transitions
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license required
- BLS certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Minimum 2 years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last 3 years in Medical Surgical / Telemetry
- Demonstrated experience starting IVs required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Must pass a Telemetry exam prior to start (passing score of 80% or higher; 100% identification of lethal rhythms required; strict pass/fail criteria apply with up to three attempts)
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — locals not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for geriatric or complex medical/surgical patient populations
- Familiarity with cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
- Prior experience in a correctional or secured patient care environment
