Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our medical-surgical and telemetry unit. The RN will be responsible for providing quality care to adult patients, including a focused geriatric population, while ensuring adherence to established protocols and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a fast-paced environment, focusing on patient safety and comfort.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses, reporting any changes to the healthcare team.
• Perform necessary procedures, including starting IVs and conducting telemetry assessments.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Maintain accurate and updated patient records using EPIC electronic health records system.
• Ensure compliance with health regulations and organizational policies, especially regarding Department of Corrections patients.

Work Schedule

• 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Rotating weekends and holidays as needed.
• Scheduled to flip between day and night shifts a maximum of two times in a six-week period unless an exception is granted.
• Employees will receive 36 hours off between shifts when transitioning from nights to days, particularly for patient care shifts.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role is necessary.
• Experience with starting IVs is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record system is essential.
• Ability to pass a telemetry assessment test prior to starting.

Patient Population

The unit serves a diverse adult and geriatric patient population, including individuals from various Department of Corrections facilities. Care involves working within a secured environment, with staff accompanied by Department of Corrections officers when assisting incarcerated patients.
