Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care to patients in an adult med/surg unit, specifically focusing on those under Family Medicine services, including a geriatric population. Experience with starting IVs and telemetry is required.

Scheduling Information

The position involves day/night 12-hour shifts, with a rotating schedule that includes every other weekend and holidays as needed. Registered Nurses will not be scheduled for more than two transitions between day and night shifts within a six-week period, unless a specific request for exceptions is made by the employee. Additionally, there is a mandatory 36 hours off between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift when the day shift is for patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and ensure the safety and comfort of patients.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Coordinate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Assist in the management of Department of Corrections patients as needed, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
• Perform IV starts and other necessary procedures as required.

Qualifications

• Current RN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA only).
• Two years of experience required, with specific experience in telemetry.
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records is mandatory.
• Candidates may be required to pass a telemetry test prior to starting work.

Environment

The unit may accommodate between 0 to 10 Department of Corrections patients at any given time. Staff are always accompanied by a DOC officer while assisting these patients in a secured environment, highlighting the importance of both patient care and safety protocols within the unit.
