Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a high-acuity oncology unit requiring 2 years of current inpatient nursing experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Mixed acuity PCU/MS Tele unit caring for medical oncology patients with approximately 24 PCU beds and 24 MS Tele beds
  • High acuity patient population with diagnoses ranging from solid tumors to some blood cancers
  • Rare pediatric patients may be present but are primarily cared for by permanent staff
  • 12-hour rotating day/night shifts, with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week period
  • Weekend shifts are variable
  • Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Target staffing ratio of 1:4-5, though this may vary based on unit needs
  • Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, and continuous bladder irrigation equipment
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS required, ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of current inpatient acute care nursing experience in the specialty being applied to, within the last 12 months
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management and use of rapid response/code teams
  • Chemotherapy administration and monitoring skills preferred
  • Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care preferred
  • Experience with continuous bladder irrigation and IV insulin protocols preferred
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN or higher; no coworker references accepted
