Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2+ years of high acuity Med Surg Tele experience and an active compact or Ohio RN license.

Details

• Comprehensive Cancer Center setting with 318 acute care beds across specialized oncology inpatient units
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30, with potential for rotating day/night assignments based on department needs
• Floating required to MedSurg and PCU Oncology units including BMT, Acute Leukemia, Hematology, Medical Oncology, PCU Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, Urology, Colorectal, Surgical Oncology, and Corrections Healthcare
• Staffing ratios are 1:3 to 1:4 on PCU units and 1:4 to 1:5 on Med/Surg Tele units depending on acuity
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling offered
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active compact or Ohio RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of current, high acuity Med/Surg Tele or higher experience required, consistently worked within the last 12 months and in the specialty applied for
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: OCN, ONS/ONCC
• Epic charting experience required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide Med/Surg Tele level nursing care with heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Skills utilized may include IV therapy, port access/management, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, chemotherapy administration and monitoring, tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, insulin drip titration, and surgical drain care
• First week of orientation is Monday through Friday day shift, followed by five shifts of bedside orientation during weeks 2 and 3, then independent practice
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting as soon as the contract is signed due to urgent processing timelines
• RTO must be submitted with the contract and is limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
