Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for an oncology unit requiring EPIC experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Med/Surg Oncology unit within a hospital setting
  • Patients include those receiving chemotherapy requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, soft tissue malignancy diagnostics, and symptom management related to disease treatment or progression
  • Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
  • Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts on a 3x12 schedule, with assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with current acute care experience in the applied specialty within the last 12 months
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Skills required include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, IV starts, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management, and ABG interpretation
  • Oncology, teaching hospital, and previous travel experience preferred but not required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to oncology patients including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and comorbidity management
  • Complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon contract signing; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former employees eligible for assignment consideration after 6+ months away from the facility
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract prior to submission, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
