Job Title: Research Administration Specialist

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Summary
The Department of Neonatology is seeking a Research Administration Specialist to support the BCM-Rice Superfund Research Program. This role will coordinate with stakeholders to track budgets, manage travel reimbursements via Concur, order and track supplies (including animals), and oversee financial aspects of the program. This role is responsible for organizing and facilitating monthly grant meetings, preparing agendas and invitations, communicating progress to NIH program officers, and attending annual meetings. This role will also support the preparation of grant renewal applications and other grant-related documentation. Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and experience in research administration or grant management are essential for this role.
Performs administrative, financial, and coordination duties to support effective and efficient operations of the Baylor-Rice Superfund Research Program, a large NIH funded multi institutional research center, to achieve the Department's goals in its research and education missions.
The BCM-Rice Superfund Research Program is a collaborative initiative focused on understanding and mitigating the health impacts of environmental toxins. The program investigates how maternal exposure to environmental toxins increases the risk of preterm birth and contributes to long term health issues such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia and neurocognitive deficits in children.
This position is located at Texas Children's Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
Job Duties
Program Coordination
Coordinates the day to day operations of the program, which supports 60 research personnel across 5 institutions
Prepares annual NIH Research Progress and Performance Reports (RPPR)
Responsible for for Superfund Renewal application to NIH
Track project timelines, deliverables, and progress reports to ensure compliance with NIH requirements
Financial and Grant Support
Collaborates with grants research administration on subcontracts, effort reporting, and financial projections
Tracks research expenditures, process invoices, and assist with procurement requests
Approve and monitor financial transactions and activities of grant accounts by reviewing and reconciling accounts
Maintains records for budget compliance with institutional and sponsor requirements
Communication and Outreach
Develops and maintain program communication materials, including newsletters, websites and reports
Assists with preparation of research highlights, impact statements, and dissemination materials
Coordinates outreach events and activities with community partners
Faculty Support
Assist program faculty with scheduling, travel arrangements, and reimbursement requests
Maintain training program records and assist with evaluation processes
