Summary Under direct supervision, is responsible for general secretarial duties; prepares basic reports; maintains computerized files; and performs related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities • Enters and updates data in a personal computer utilizing spreadsheet or database applications; • Types moderately complex letters and memos utilizing a personal computer • Prepares invoices, logs, payments, deposits, and other financial transactions for the department; • Maintains department work orders/requests/tickets • Answers telephone, routes calls and takes messages utilizing discretion • Maintains department calendar(s); assists with events, projects or programs; maintains statistics or databases and develops reports • Maintains various types of files; accesses and files information of a confidential nature • Opens and distributes mail; makes copies; prepares packets and distributes information/product accordingly; maintains office supplies • Responds to general inquiries regarding department or work • Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications Graduation from High School or a General Education Development (GED) certificate; and (2) two years general office experience including at least one (1) year administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Experience Infor/Lawson and/or SAP Good knowledge of office procedures; knowledge of English spelling, grammar and punctuation; knowledge of word processing, database or spreadsheet software packages (Microsoft Products Word, Excel, Outlook) Skill in operating a personal computer and basic office equipment Ability to accurately enter data and file information; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees and the general public Must have valid Texas driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance; or have a self-reliant source of transportation to conduct business on a daily basis Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance Must secure and maintain a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
