Overview
Department 341 Welding & NDT Engineering - Suppliers and Strategic Sourcing is looking for an additional team member to support onboarding of a new supplier.
Basic job responsibilities include:
Provide dedicated on-site support to supplier developing NAVSEA Technical Publication welding program.
Support supplier in qualifying new welding procedures
Review and approve supplier welding procedures
Offer insight and guidance in the development of quality procedures that support welding program
Provide direct oversight and continued assessment of supplier weld program performance
Provide technical guidance and expertise with respect to construction support, problem resolution and corrective actions for welding performed by supplier
Maintain company standards, procedures, best practices, and process improvements in the field of welding
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering
5+ years of post graduate related engineering experience
Preferred:
Degree in Materials Science or Welding Engineering
Three or more years of engineering experience in aerospace, defense, heavy fabrication or shipbuilding applications
The ability to read and understand component specifications, military specifications and engineering drawings
Experience working with basic arc welding processes and an understanding of the fundamentals of welding metallurgy
Experience with the development and qualification of weld procedures
Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with both a technical and nontechnical audience
Candidate must be highly motivated, perform independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations, including interfacing regularly with SUPSHIP or NAVSEA customers, in an engineering environment
Ability to effectively prioritize work and support multiple projects at the same time
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
