Manufacturing - Senior Mechanical Engineer - Stonington, CT

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and enhancement of custom industrial equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects involving machine design, engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration. Description

Responsibilities:

• Design machine systems and mechanical components to meet customer and project requirements.
• Create 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and bills of materials.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses supporting new and existing product designs.
• Develop and modify designs involving mechanical assemblies, drivetrains, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, assembly, testing, and commissioning teams throughout project execution.
• Evaluate equipment performance, reliability, safety, and manufacturability.
• Investigate equipment issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement practical engineering solutions.
• Provide technical support to field service teams and customers.
• Conduct product testing, analyse results, and recommend design improvements.
• Prepare engineering documentation, reports, and technical specifications.
• Support sales, manufacturing, service, and customer-facing teams with technical expertise.
• Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally as required.

Profile

Ideal Candidate:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of mechanical design experience within manufacturing, machinery, or industrial equipment environments.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Experience with machine design, materials selection, manufacturing processes, and mechanical assemblies.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively across departments.
• Experience designing custom industrial machinery, capital equipment, or power transmission systems is highly preferred.
• Experience supporting equipment through fabrication, assembly, testing, and field commissioning is a plus.
