Position Summary:Saint Constantine College is seeking applications for the position of Full Time or Part Time Head Librarian.  The Head Librarian is responsible for overseeing the development and operations of the Saint Constantine College Library. The Head Librarian has Faculty status in the College and works with a community of students studying Great Texts from a classical, Orthodox perspective. Specific duties of the position include:<ol><li>Development of programs and services for target audiences </li><li>Collection development and management </li><li>Cataloging books and materials </li><li>Identifying current community needs and project future needs </li><li>Conduct lectures for students </li><li>Assist students with research and assignments </li><li>Assist faculty in acquiring materials for their respective courses </li><li>Develop and maintain relationships with other institutions </li><li>Related work as required </li></ol>Employees are expected to function independently and exercise independent judgment, tact, and initiative. Qualifications:<ul><li>Master’s degree in library science with professional librarian experience. </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Flexible, organized, and able to multitask and prioritize. </li><li>Creative and strategic problem-solving abilities. </li><li>Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. </li><li>Standing in and walking between work areas is frequently required. </li><li>Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Job Title: Computer Operator Direct/ Tape Librarian Location: Houston TX 77042 Duration: 06+ Months Shift: 8-5 1st shift Summary Basic Purpose and Scope: The tape librarian will care for and maintain the inventory of magnetic computer tapes, NAS/USB disks within the Houston Tape Library. The tape librarian will be responsible for final verification of all client’s deliverable disks and tapes for the routine maintenance of the tape library. Principal Responsibilities: (All Database Related)<ul><li> Serve as primary individual to perform projects within the tape library.</li><li> Serve as primary focal point for the xmittal program.</li><li> Coordinate and/or manage all tape pools (create, expand, reduce pools and create labels for all tapes)</li><li> Verify all disks/tapes for outgoing client shipments.</li><li> Register all incoming media and document it.</li><li> Address any media catalog issues for users or archive personnel.</li><li> Manage all media error reporting, including flagging media with soft and hard errors in appropriate catalog.</li><li> Coordinate with Computer Operators for daily operations and media needs for the tape library (silo).</li><li> Generate media reports as required by DMS & IT DP.</li><li> Coordinate activities required to locate media via database searches.</li></ul> Other Library Responsibilities: (Could be shared or handled by computer operator)<ul><li> Ensure proper care and handling procedures for computer tapes.</li><li> Retrieve, file, sort media for internal use. (WH, Archive, User)</li><li> Retrieve and box media for outgoing shipments.</li><li> QC, label, and file media from incoming shipments.</li><li> Load and eject media in silos via generated lists.</li><li> Maintain and follow all library work procedures and instructions.</li><li> Perform routine maintenance of the tape library.</li><li> Search for “not in rack” tapes and coordinate results with Supervisor.</li><li> Ensure compliance with all relevant Quality Assurance procedures, QHSE requirements and departmental working practices.</li><li> Other duties assigned by the group leader or supervisor.</li></ul> Relationships :<ul><li> Internal : DMS Users, Shipping, Inventory/Archive Coordinators, Network/System Groups, Computer Operations</li></ul> Requirements:<ul><li> Education : High School diploma or equivalent** or College Degree</li><li> Experience : Three to five years of tape technician or computer operations experience.</li></ul> Skills : Able to work independently. Familiar with all aspects of tape library operations. Strong computer skills and understanding of databases. Knowledge of MMS tape management. Disciplined and well organized. Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under time constraints. Capable of training and assisting back-up personnel. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Physical Demands: Able to lift 20 -25 lbs.
