Ensures that all aspects of the National Grid Process Safety Program are fully implemented in the gas business unit of the company to mitigate the risk associated with all predetermined process safety assets throughout gas operation. This position works with the Engineering Manager, Pressure Regulation Engineering to support the development, implementation, and oversight of the company's Process Safety Management System in the Upstate New York area.
Responsibilities: • Fire/Hazard Detection and Suppression (all types) - Installation and Maintenance • Hazard audits across plant • Support for breakdowns outside normal working hours • Assist Engineers/Project Managers with all aspects of projects including commissioning • Train, mentor and guide fellow craftsmen • Follow up on reoccurring problems to improve reliability including design changes • Work with vendors on specific equipment • Assist with Electrical documentation (DCN's, etc) • Work with planners/schedulers to ensure that adequate spares are on site and in BOM • Develop/Update and publish JIs, Checklists, PMs • Assist with predictive and precision maintenance • Reports to Assoc EMRA - Asset Protection • Entering time on WO's as needed based on work done that day, entering notifications, TECO WO's with notes • Occasionally assist other maintenance teams in EM with project installs and manpower needs • Provide site support for periodic loss prevention visits and audits as required (both NNA and external) • Attend certification training on system installation and applicable NYS Code • Support other plants in similar discipline if needed. Job Qualifications: • Greater than 1 year experience in EM Department preferred • Currently Pay Grade 7 preferred (or higher) • Able to work well with others one on one & in groups/team settings • Receptive to feedback/input from process, operations, engineering, peers etc • Good communication skills • Demonstrates ability to transfer knowledge to others • Demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for improving equipment reliability.
