Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN - Step Down for a night shift travel contract requiring ACLS certification and 18 months of recent step-down or advanced PCU experience.

Details

  • Advanced PCU/Step Down unit that functions similarly to an ICU due to high acuity
  • Cares for 24-hour post-CABG cardiac surgery patients with chest tubes
  • Patient population includes LVAD patients; hospital provides LVAD course; no ventilator patients
  • Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
  • 13-week contract length with available start dates every Monday
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license required in hand
  • ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 18 months of step-down or similar acuity experience within the past 3 years
  • Ventilator experience not required
  • Must pass a proctored rhythm identification test (non-multiple choice, two attempts allowed) upon starting

Additional Information

  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Former Emory or Houston permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before returning to the health system, or 18 months if returning to the same facility
  • RTO limited to a maximum of 5 days if not near a holiday, or 3 days if falling on or near a holiday, with only 1 holiday request allowed
