Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down cardiac position requiring ACLS certification and 18 months of recent specialty experience.

Details

  • Cardiology Step Down unit that functions similarly to an advanced PCU due to acuity and staffing ratios
  • Cares for 24-hour post-CABG cardiac surgery patients with chest tubes and LVADs
  • No ventilator patients on this unit
  • Patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
  • Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours)
  • No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license required in hand
  • ACLS certification required
  • Ventilator experience not required
  • Minimum 18 months of experience in the specialty within the past 3 years
  • Must pass a proctored rhythm identification test (non multiple-choice) upon starting, with two attempts allowed

Additional Information

  • Provide advanced cardiac step-down nursing care for post-surgical cardiac patients
  • LVAD training provided by the hospital for those without prior experience
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Former Emory or Houston permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before returning to the health system, or 18 months if returning to the same facility
  • RTO requests are limited to a maximum of 5 days if not near a holiday, or 3 days if on or near a holiday, with only one holiday request allowed per assignment
