Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN - Step Down for a high-acuity cardiac PCU unit requiring strong telemetry skills and 18 months of recent cardiac experience.

Details

  • Work in the high-acuity, cardiac-focused Step Down/PCU unit at a hospital in Atlanta, GA
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:4 to 1:5
  • AM shift, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
  • No on-call requirements
  • No ventilator patients on this unit
  • Common patient populations include heart failure, A-Fib, A-Flutter, SVT, VTach, VFib, FVO, chest pain, HTN, heart transplant, congenital heart disease, and LVAD patients
  • Common procedures include right & left heart catheterizations, TR band management, sheath removal/management, stent placement, valve replacement, STEMI/NSTEMI care, pacemakers, ICDs, cardioversions, ablations, and groin site management
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Floating to similar cardiac/PCU units may be required, but not to Cardiac Monitor Tech roles

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license required in hand
  • Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
  • Must independently interpret cardiac rhythms and pass a proctored, paper-based Dysrhythmia Exam using calipers on the first attempt with no tech assistance or remediation opportunities
  • Experience required with cardiac drips including insulin, Milrinone, Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, and Nitroglycerin
  • Chest tube experience required
  • Must have a rating of 4 on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist
  • Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred (training available if needed)
  • Must have experience with telemetry interpretation and successfully passing a telemetry exam

Additional Information

  • Care for high-acuity cardiac patients with frequent admissions, discharges, and significant procedural volume
  • Radius rule of 50 miles applies; local candidates are not eligible unless the facility waives this requirement for a hard-to-fill position
  • Former employees of this health system must be separated for at least 1 year before returning, or 18 months if returning to the same facility
  • RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days if not on or near a holiday, or 3 days if requested on or near a holiday, with only 1 holiday request allowed per assignment
