Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 2 years of acute care experience including 1 year in PCU and a current OH or compact RN license.

Details

• 12-hour night shift (D/N or nights rotating) 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30, 16-week assignment
• Surgical oncology unit caring for mixed acuity PCU and Med Surg patients
• Adult and geriatric patient population with surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics/reconstructive diagnoses
• Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, may be up to 1:5
• Weekend scheduling varies based on unit needs with no set or blocked scheduling
• Floating required within scope of practice
• May be scheduled for days, nights, or a rotating combination based on department needs, reviewed every 4-week period
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current, consistent acute care experience within the last 12 months, including at least 1 year of PCU experience
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), and tracheostomy care preferred
• Skilled in cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director and no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide care involving chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin and heparin drips, and management of oncologic emergencies including cytokine release syndrome
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is valued

• Current employees are ineligible for travel assignment at any Ohio State University hospital location
