Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring OH or compact RN license and prior PCU experience on a busy surgical oncology floor.

Details

• Mixed acuity surgical oncology unit caring for both PCU and Med Surg patients
• Adult and geriatric patient population with surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics diagnoses
• Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be 1:5
• Weekend scheduling varies based on unit needs with no set or blocked scheduling
• Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30) with possible rotation between days and nights based on department needs
• Floating required within scope of practice
• Care involves chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, cytokine release syndrome, insulin drips, and heparin drips
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months
• At least 1 year of PCU experience required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), and tracheostomy care preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy surgical oncology PCU including cardiac telemetry monitoring and management
• Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is valued; travel experience not required
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for travel assignment
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into contract, limited to 7 days or less
