Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring 2 years of acute care experience with at least 1 year in PCU and an OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Mixed acuity surgical oncology unit caring for both PCU and Med Surg patients
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
• Patient ratios typically 1:4, may be up to 1:5
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling offered
• Floating required within scope of practice
• May be scheduled for days, nights, or a rotating combination based on department needs, with assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
• Cares for adult and geriatric patients
• Surgical oncology patient population including breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics/reconstructive cases
• Involves chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, cytokine release syndrome management, insulin drips, and heparin drips
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months
• At least 1 year of PCU experience required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Epic charting experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct care to surgical oncology and PCU/Med Surg patients including cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice expected for those without prior travel experience
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• RTO must be submitted with contract request and is limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract; those outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those far away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
