Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring at least 1 year of experience and a compact or Ohio RN license in hand.

Details

  • PCU setting within a teaching hospital
  • Adult and geriatric patient population
  • Common cases include burns, plastic/reconstructive surgery, urology, GYN, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries
  • Special procedures include burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Every other/third weekend required
  • Floating within OSU required

Requirements

  • Active compact or Ohio RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry (unit and remote) required
  • Experience with IV therapy, central/PICC/peripheral line care, and blood product administration required
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac and surgical drain management required
  • Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management required
  • Experience with insulin protocols and IV insulin titration required
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care within a progressive care/stepdown unit
  • Manage cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and emergency response including use of rapid response/code teams
  • Perform wound care, feeding tube management, and substance withdrawal care as needed
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, though candidates with only 1 year of experience require manager review before an offer
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for a travel assignment
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
