Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a teaching hospital requiring telemetry skills and OH or compact license in hand.

Details

  • PCU/Stepdown unit at a teaching hospital
  • Cardiac telemetry patient population
  • Rotating 3x12 hour day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30) shifts
  • 36 hours per week with rotating or straight nights
  • Weekdays and some weekends required with rotating holidays
  • Call required
  • Float required within the OSU system
  • Epic charting system required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Experience with cardiac drips, dysrhythmia management, and cardiac monitoring required
  • Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and pre/post hemodialysis management
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN (no coworker references)

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for cardiac telemetry and progressive care patients, including monitoring, medication titration, and emergency response
  • Manage patients requiring respiratory support, isolation precautions, and renal/endocrine care
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
  • Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location; those farther away will receive a mail-in fingerprinting packet
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former employees eligible for assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for travel assignments
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be submitted with the contract and built in, limited to 7 days or less
