Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring telemetry experience and an OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown unit setting
  • Patient population includes MS/Tele, respiratory, and cardiac cases requiring telemetry monitoring
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30), 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required (Friday & Saturday nights)
  • Float required within OSU system
  • Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Previous telemetry experience required
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips required
  • Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with rapid response/code teams
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care and management
  • Experience starting and maintaining IVs
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response
  • Administer respiratory care including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
  • Candidates with only 1 year of experience will require manager review before an offer is extended
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment only after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
  • RTO must be requested at time of consideration and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Ohio fingerprinting is required promptly after contract signing due to strict compliance timelines
