Description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN for night shifts requiring at least 1 year of telemetry experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • PCU unit within a correctional healthcare setting for Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) inmates
  • Unit is locked and requires Corrections Officer (CO) access to enter
  • Patient population includes active oncology (solid tumor and hematology) diagnoses and patients with a history of cancer admitted for other reasons such as surgical procedures, COPD, sepsis, abnormal labs, and pneumonia
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00-7:30, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday nights)
  • Floating required within OSU
  • Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Previous telemetry experience required
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips required
  • Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
  • Skilled in oxygen administration, nasal cannula use, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
  • Experience with peripheral line care, management, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; Charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response including use of Rapid Response/Code teams
  • Follow isolation precautions and proper PPE protocols
  • Complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently after signing contract; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to work as a traveler
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
