Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) role requiring at least 1 year of stepdown/PCU experience and OH or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Provide care within the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Patient ratio of approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekday schedule with occasional weekends and rotating holidays
  • Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Utilizes Epic for documentation

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of stepdown/PCU experience required (ICU experience not required)
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skilled in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with peripheral line care and IV therapy/phlebotomy
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor, and the second from a charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry monitoring and emergency response for cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Perform IV starts and manage peripheral lines
  • Support patients with respiratory needs including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract, as this is a time-sensitive requirement
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignments after 6+ months away from the facility
  • Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at any Ohio State University hospital location
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of submission, limited to 7 days or less
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
