Description:
The position requires a commitment to 12-hour day shifts from 07:00 to 19:30.
Weekend rotation and holidays may be needed.
The nurse will care for patients with complex abdominal surgeries, post-operative care involving various equipment such as NG tubes, PICC lines, TPN, J-tubes, and wound VACs.
Responsibilities include administering blood products, managing chest tubes, and providing patient education on ostomies and wound care.
The patient ratio is 4:1 for days and nights.
The unit emphasizes professional development and continuing education for staff.
Nurses will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
Competence in telemetry and the ability to recognize dysrhythmias are essential.
The nurse should be skilled in IV management, phlebotomy, and care of various drainage systems.
Travelers must demonstrate flexibility, as floating may be required.
