Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology Telemetry position requiring Epic experience and current acute care skills in the specialty.

Details

  • Work on a Medical Surgical Telemetry oncology unit
  • Patients admitted for continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration, soft tissue malignancy, and symptom management from disease or treatment
  • Patient population includes management of comorbidities with a heavy focus on infection prevention and fall protocols
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Uses B450 monitors with GE telemetry system, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
  • Night shift 12-hour rotation (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), 3x per week, with possible day/night rotation based on department needs
  • Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, though changes are not guaranteed
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Acute care experience must be current and within the last 12 months, specifically in Med/Surg Telemetry oncology
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skills required include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, accessing and managing ports, IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, arterial line management, blood product administration, chest tube assistance, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • Preferred skills include chemotherapy administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, tracheostomy care, PCA and insulin drip titration
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

  • Provide oncology telemetry nursing care with a strong emphasis on infection prevention and fall risk management
  • Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is valued; previous travel experience is preferred but not required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference, but coworker references are not accepted
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as travelers
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance timelines
