Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift palliative care role requiring OH or compact licensure and Epic experience.

Details

• Palliative care unit within a cancer hospital setting focused on symptom management for patients undergoing treatment
• Manages uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, failure to thrive, fatigue, and related symptoms
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Rotating 12-hour day/night contract possible, with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current, consistent acute care RN experience in the specialty applied for required (within the last 12 months)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
• Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and no coworker references accepted

• Provides symptom management and supportive care for patients with serious illness to improve quality of life
• Candidates should be prepared for prompt completion of Ohio fingerprinting requirements immediately after contract signing
• RTO must be requested and built into the contract prior to submission, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
