Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN requiring 2+ years of recent acute care experience and Epic proficiency for a night shift assignment.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 1900-0730
• Weekend and holiday rotations based on operational need
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WI RN or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in med/surg specialty
• Epic charting experience required
• Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and 80% or higher overall score
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team involvement
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• All references must be removed prior to consideration

• Provide direct patient care on a med/surg telemetry unit, including monitoring, wound care, and medication administration
• Work within a modern, newly built hospital recognized as one of the most advanced facilities in the country

• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have 3 years of recent inpatient med/surg experience
• If the telemetry exam is failed twice, a certificate of completion for a cardiac interpretation review course must be submitted before a third attempt is allowed
• Assignment may be cancelled if the telemetry exam is not passed after three attempts
