Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring 2 years of acute care experience, WI or compact RN license, and successful completion of a telemetry exam prior to start.
Details
- Med/Surg Tele unit caring for adult and geriatric patients under the Family Medicine service
- Unit includes patients from Wisconsin Department of Corrections facilities, cared for in a locked wing with DOC officer supervision
- Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 / 1900-0730) with every other weekend and holidays as needed
- D/N rotators limited to 2 shift flips per 6-week scheduling period unless requested otherwise
- 36 hours off required between end of night shift and start of day shift
- Floating required as needed
- EPIC EMR used
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
- EPIC experience required, preferably within the past 12 months
- Experience starting and maintaining IVs required
- Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to start, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and no more than 1 incorrect answer on 3rd degree heart block questions
- Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; local candidates not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide med/surg and telemetry nursing care to a diverse adult and geriatric patient population
- Assist DOC patients under direct supervision of a DOC officer at all times
- Skills utilized may include IV therapy, port access, PICC line management, feeding tube care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, wound care, and oxygen administration
- First-time travelers will be considered if they have 5 years of previous inpatient med/surg experience
- Facility is a Magnet-designated teaching hospital and referral center
- Parking permit required if parking onsite, alternative transportation options available
