Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical

Unit Overview

This position is for a 32-bed unit focused on providing care for patients undergoing colorectal and other major abdominal surgeries, as well as various urological, orthopedic, plastic surgeries, specialty wound care, and surgical drains.

Contract Details

• Start Dates: Please submit for one of the following orientation dates: 10/19/2026, 11/02/2026, 11/16/2026, 11/30/2026. Orientation will occur bi-weekly.
• Length of Contract: 26 weeks preferred, with the possibility of extending to 51 weeks. Shorter contracts considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts, guaranteed 36 hours per week.
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Rotation: 1 holiday off can be requested; compliance with the holiday policy is required.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care through collaborative teamwork, critical thinking, and active engagement in a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience required; progressive care or step-down experience is a plus.
• Education: ADN or BSN required.
• Licensure: Current Kansas or multistate nursing license; no hits allowed.
• Certifications: AHA BLS at the time of submission. All required certifications must be included with your application.

Work Environment

This position involves potential floating to other post-surgical and medical-surgical inpatient floors as required. Staffing ratios are typically 1:6, ensuring quality patient care.

Dress Code

Scrub color will be navy. Visible tattoos are permitted unless deemed offensive or inappropriate for a professional setting. Facial and ear piercings are acceptable as long as they do not interfere with job duties.

Vaccination Requirements

• Proof of immunity to Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella (either via titer or vaccination series completion).
• TDaP vaccine and Influenza vaccine (or exemption request during flu season).
• Documentation of Tuberculosis (TB) results is required.
