Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a MICU rotating shift position requiring 2 years of current acute care ICU experience and prior travel experience.

Details

• Medical ICU (MICU) unit within a cancer hospital setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Common diagnoses include oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, complications of oncologic treatment, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders, and sepsis
• Common treatments include mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, clinical trials, and plasmapheresis
• Patients often require bronchoscopy or endoscopy for underlying pulmonary and GI conditions
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) with possible rotation to days or a combination based on department needs
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, subject to change based on staffing priorities
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care ICU experience, consistently worked within the last 12 months, in the specialty applied for
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and IV insulin protocols
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to hemodynamically compromised ICU patients, including administration of complex medication regimens and monitoring of clinical trial participants
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract, either by traveling to an in-state location or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet if located far from Ohio
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
• RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of submission, limited to 7 days or less
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
