Description

American Traveler is seeking a Medical ICU RN with at least 2 years of MICU experience and Epic proficiency for a hospital-based assignment.

Details

• Work in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) of a hospital setting
• Patient ratios of approximately 1:1-2
• Manage complex cases including multisystem organ failure, respiratory failure, COVID, sepsis, post-cardiac arrest, DKA, liver failure, and renal failure
• Utilize specialized equipment such as NxStage CRRT, Alaris IV pumps, GE cardiac monitors, GE ventilators, and boom lifts in patient rooms
• Perform continuous glucose monitoring for hyperglycemia management
• Manage externalized IV pumps for COVID-positive patients
• 3x12-hour shifts totaling 36 hours per week, rotating between day and night shifts every 4 weeks
• Day shift hours 7:00 AM-7:30 PM, night shift hours 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Medical ICU experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Proficient in IV starts
• Experience with telemetry and cardiac monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Competency with ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience managing patients on continuous IV sedation
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN reference is acceptable for the second; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a high-acuity Medical ICU environment
• Complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon signing contract; candidates within driving distance of Ohio must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment only after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for travel assignments
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• First-time travelers are not specifically required, though prior travel experience is preferred
