Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and Trauma Level II experience.

Details

• Surgical Intensive Care Unit setting
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
• 36 hours per week
• Every Saturday and Sunday day shift required, plus 1 additional day each week
• Floating required
• Call required
• Uses Epic for documentation
• Medication systems include Pyxis, Accudose, and Omnicell
• Uses SBAR communication method

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Surgical ICU, Trauma ICU, Burn ICU, or Transplant ICU experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory skills required include chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with chronic/acute renal failure required
• Medication management skills required include continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, and titrating vasoactive drips
• GI surgery experience required
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
• Phlebotomy skills required
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required
• IV insulin protocol experience required
• Neurological care experience required, including post neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring preferred
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second acceptable from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to surgical ICU patients including complex multisystem and post-surgical cases
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed urgently upon signing the contract, with travel to an Ohio location or a mailed fingerprinting packet depending on candidate location
