Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an ER Holding position requiring an active MA RN license and 2 years of telemetry experience.

Details

  • Work in the ER Holding unit as part of an ER Surge/Overflow team caring for overflow patients
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, with a 7:00 PM start time and flexibility of up to 4 hours earlier or later based on department need
  • 13-week assignment at 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend/holiday rotation required
  • Floating to different areas within the ED to care for overflow/surge patients
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations; must be able to work all 7 days

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license required
  • 2 years of telemetry experience required
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Experience with respiratory care and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with medications, PCA, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and starting and maintaining IVs
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Two references required for consideration, one of which must be from a Nurse Manager or higher

Additional Information

  • Provide care to ER overflow/surge patients across various ED areas
  • Must pass a pass/fail telemetry exam and a pass/fail medication exam during orientation, each with only one attempt allowed
  • Facility allows 1 of the 3 major upcoming holidays as RTO
  • Up to 14 days of RTO can be submitted for review, with no RTO allowed during the first week
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at the same bill rate
  • Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system
