Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an ER Holding/Surge position requiring an active MA RN license and 2 years of telemetry experience.

Details

  • ER Surge/Overflow position stationed within the Emergency Department caring for overflow and surge patients
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Shift start time flexibility of up to 4 hours earlier or later based on critical department need
  • Every other weekend/every other holiday requirement
  • Floating required to different areas within the ED to cover overflow/surge patients
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations; must be able to work all 7 days of the week

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license required
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skills required: respiratory care, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, medication administration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) and PCA experience preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher

Additional Information

  • Must pass two pass/fail exams at orientation: a medication exam and a telemetry exam, each with only 1 attempt; failure results in immediate contract cancellation
  • Study materials will be provided during the compliance process and facility-directed interviews to help prepare for exams
  • Facility allows 1 of the 3 major upcoming holidays to be included in requested time off
  • Up to 14 days of RTO can be submitted for review, with no RTO allowed during the first week
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at the same bill rate
  • Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system before reapplying
