Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an ER Holding/Surge position requiring an active MA RN license and 2 years of telemetry experience.

Details

  • ER Surge/Overflow unit stationed within the Emergency Department caring for overflow and surge patients
  • Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with limited flexibility to shift start time by up to 4 hours based on critical department need
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Floating to different areas within the ED to manage overflow/surge patients
  • Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations; must be able to work all 7 days
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license required (must be in hand)
  • 2 years of telemetry experience required
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Skills in respiratory care, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, PCA, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Must pass a pass/fail medication exam and a pass/fail telemetry exam during orientation, with only 1 attempt allowed for each
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to ER overflow and surge patients across various ED areas
  • Multiple study materials provided during compliance process and facility-directed interviews (FDIs) to help prepare for required exams
  • Pre-start and orientation modules required, with additional annual modules tracked through the facility's Workday system
  • One of the three major upcoming holidays allowed for requested time off (RTO)
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review, though no RTO is allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 75-mile radius
  • Candidates must reside within a 200-mile radius to be eligible for travel rate
