Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for an ER Holding/Overflow position requiring an active MA RN license and at least 2 years of telemetry experience.

Details

  • Work in the ER Holding unit, caring for overflow and surge patients within the Emergency Department
  • 13-week assignment at 36 hours per week
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM) with some shift start flexibility based on department need
  • Every other weekend/holiday (EOW/EOH) requirement
  • Floating required to different areas within the ED to manage overflow/surge patients
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • Union facility scheduling requires availability to work all 7 days with no special accommodations

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license required
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skills required include cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), IV therapy, phlebotomy, and medication administration (including PCA)
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
  • Candidates with prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license will not be considered

Additional Information

  • Must pass a pass/fail telemetry exam and a pass/fail medication exam during orientation, each allowing only one attempt
  • Failure to pass either exam will result in immediate cancellation of the contract
  • Study materials will be provided throughout the compliance process and facility-directed interviews (FDIs)
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same bill rate within a 200-mile radius
  • Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system before reapplying
  • Facility allows coverage of 1 of the 3 major upcoming holidays as RTO
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
