Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department Holding position requiring an active MA RN license and 2 years of telemetry experience.

Details

  • Work in the ER Holding unit caring for overflow and surge patients
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • EOW/EOH (every other weekend/holiday) requirement
  • Shift start time flexibility up to 4 hours earlier or later based on department need
  • Floating to different areas within the ED required to manage overflow/surge patients
  • Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations, must be able to work all 7 days
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license required in hand
  • 2 years of telemetry experience required
  • BLS required, ACLS preferred
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
  • Experience with PCA medication management preferred
  • Two professional references required, with at least one being a Nurse Manager or higher

Additional Information

  • Must successfully pass a pass/fail telemetry exam and a pass/fail medication exam during orientation, each with one attempt allowed
  • Failure to pass either exam results in immediate cancellation of the contract
  • Study materials provided during compliance process and first days of instruction (FDIs)
  • Facility allows 1 of the 3 major upcoming holidays as RTO
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 75-mile radius
  • Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review, with no RTO allowed during the first week
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
