    The Student Office Assistant will handle a variety of front-desk and administrative duties, including:•Front-Desk Operations: Manage high-volume foot traffic and inquiries, primarily focused on first-time and transfer students in a friendly and professional manner.

    • Information Resource: Provide accurate information, clear directions to campus resources and services, and answer phones professionally.
    • Administrative Support: Offer general administrative support, including filing, reporting supply needs for ordering, and providing assistance to the Office of Advising Strategies.
    • Clerical Tasks: Perform office duties such as typing, document formatting, inputting data, and preparing welcome packets.
    • Marketing/Outreach: Actively participate in the planning, promotion, and staffing of 2-3 outreach events per semester, fostering community among transfer students.
    • Office Maintenance: Occasional light cleaning and organizing of the office and lobby and supplies

    Schedule

    The maximum schedule is up to 20 hours per week, with shifts scheduled in 2-4-hour blocks between M-F, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Being able to work at least four days a week is encouraged within the work-study guidelines. Student may also be assigned to work at the UNM Testing & Training Center (located in Casas del Rio) as needed. Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Must have a Work-Study Award for Spring 2026. Please provide proof of the award with your application.

    Demonstrated willingness to learn new systems and follow through with assigned tasks.

    Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word.

    Ability to stay organized, maintain strong attention to detail, and appropriately handle confidential information.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Previous office experience or familiarity with UNM systems.

    Strong customer service, interpersonal, and professional phone skills.

    Knowledge of and experience with Excel and Outlook.

    Ability to maintain a positive, solution-oriented, and professional approach in the workplace.
