Shiley Dean's Office Student Assistants will perform a variety of different office support tasks as part of a team to provide professional-level assistance. They are responsible for supporting the School's administrators and staff in the Dean's Office. The position is estimated to require 10-15 hours per week.

Core Duties

General tasks:

  • Assist staff team with administrative tasks (data entry/reconciliation, copying/ scanning, on-campus errands, etc.)
  • Take initiative in seeking additional projects after completion of each project
  • Other administrative tasks as needed

Marketing and related tasks:

  • Post updates and engaging information on social media platforms
  • Assist in updating webpage content
  • Support the weekly student newsletter "The Pulse"
  • Create graphic images for the display screens in Shiley, events in Engage and social media
  • Assist in welcoming guests to the office, including prospective students and families, potentially leading building tours and/or answering questions about UP
  • Support Shiley and UP outreach events scheduled during evenings and weekends
  • Interview faculty and students to create pieces for social media, SSOE and UP marketing, etc.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Maintain a professional manner at all times
  • Respect and protect confidentiality of SSOE information (including student/staff/faculty matters)
  • Exhibit strong written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong critical thinking and effective problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Fluency in use of software/programs including

  • Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams)
  • Canva
  • Social media platforms
