    About Us

Cream City Concepts is Milwaukee’s hospitality group built for the energy of a packed house. We run Oak Barrel Public House, Who’s on Third, Who’s on Layton, Cream City Catering, and 3rd Street Retreat — craft food, cold drinks, game days, date nights, big events, and a place to stay, all over the city. The pace is fast, the standards are high, and the people are what make it work.

    About the Role

The Server owns the guest’s experience at the table. You’re the face of the visit — you set the tone, guide the order, sell the food and drinks you believe in, keep the pace right, and send people out planning their next visit. Great serving is equal parts hospitality and hustle: you read every table, anticipate what they need, and run a tight, accurate section while making it look easy. You also handle guests’ money and our checks, so we count on you to be accurate and honest every single time.

    One Team, One Floor

In our venues, nobody stands around while the room needs something. When the floor needs it, everyone crosses over — you’ll run food to other sections, help bus and reset, back up the bar and the door, and jump in wherever the room needs a hand. We run as one team, not separate jobs, and we tip and treat it that way.

    Always Guest-Ready

If you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean — and you never make a trip with an empty hand. Heading toward the kitchen? You’re carrying dirty dishes back to the dish pit. Between tables you’re resetting, restocking, running side-work, and getting ahead of the next rush. A clean, set, guest-ready section and floor are the standard here, not the exception — and you work the opening, side-work, and closing checklists without being asked.

    What We’re Hiring For

Skills can be taught. These five can’t — they’re the bar in every CCC venue, every shift.

    • Optimistic Warmth — You genuinely like people. You bring real, upbeat energy to every table and stay warm and steady when you’re slammed and weeded.
    • Curious Intelligence — You know the menu cold, you read a table fast — celebration, quick lunch, first date — and you adjust your service and your suggestions to fit.
    • Work Ethic — You hustle. You run a tight section, never an empty hand, and you push through the rush without dropping the warmth or the details.
    • Empathy — You anticipate — the refill before it’s asked for, the check when they’re ready, the kids’ meals first — and you handle a problem so well the guest leaves happier than if it never happened.
    • Self-Awareness & Integrity — You handle every check, comp, void, discount, and cash drawer honestly and accurately — you follow the rules even when it’s busy and no manager is watching — and you own a mistake and make it right.

    Key Responsibilities

    Guest Experience & Hospitality

    • Greet tables promptly and warmly; set the tone and make every guest feel genuinely welcome and taken care of.
    • Read each table and tailor your pace and service — attentive without hovering, quick without rushing.
    • Handle questions, special requests, and problems with care; turn a hiccup into a reason they come back.
    • Build regulars — remember faces, names, and orders, and make people feel known.

    Selling & Menu Knowledge

    • Know the full food and drink menu — ingredients, allergens, prep, and what pairs well — and keep up with specials and 86’d items.
    • Sell with genuine enthusiasm: guide guests to dishes and drinks you believe in, suggest apps, sides, another round, and dessert naturally.
    • Drive check average through real hospitality, not pressure — recommendations that make the visit better.

    Order Accuracy & Service Flow

    • Enter orders accurately and on time in the POS, with correct modifications, allergies, and seat positions.
    • Communicate clearly with the kitchen, bar, runners, and hosts to keep timing and flow tight.
    • Deliver food and drinks to the right seats, check back, and keep tables stocked, cleared, and turning.

    Payment, POS & Cash Integrity

    • Ring in every item ordered — no exceptions. Never give away, under-ring, or “comp” food or drinks on your own.
    • Follow the comp, void, and discount policy exactly, and get manager approval where it’s required.
    • Handle cash, credit cards, and gift cards accurately; process payments correctly and protect guest payment information.
    • Reconcile your sales, cash, and tips at the end of every shift and account for any discrepancy honestly.

    Floor Support, Cleanliness & Readiness

    • Run food, bus and reset tables, restock, and back up teammates, the bar, and the door whenever the floor needs it.
    • Serve alcohol responsibly and per company standards and Wisconsin law; check IDs and cut off or refuse service when appropriate.
    • Keep your section, stations, and the dining room clean and guest-ready; complete opening, side-work, and closing checklists fully.

    Qualifications

    • Must be at least 18 years old and able to obtain a Wisconsin operator’s (bartender’s) license.
    • Genuinely guest-first, outgoing, and a natural at hospitality.
    • Prior serving or restaurant experience is a plus, but we’ll train the right person — attitude first.
    • Comfortable selling and confident talking through the menu.
    • Accurate and trustworthy with POS entry, checks, and cash handling.
    • Calm and organized under pressure; able to manage a full section at peak volume.
    • Reliable and punctual, with flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
    • Able to stand and move quickly for long stretches; carry trays and multiple plates; bend, reach, and lift up to 30 lbs; and work in a loud, crowded, fast-paced environment.

    Success in This Role Means

    • Guests feel genuinely taken care of and leave planning their next visit.
    • Your section runs tight and accurate — right orders, right timing, no empty hands.
    • Check averages grow through real, enthusiastic recommendations.
    • Every check, comp, void, and cash drawer is accurate and honest — every shift, watched or not.
    • Teammates, the bar, and the door can count on you to communicate and jump in.

    Benefits & Perks

    • Competitive hourly pay plus tips.
    • Discounted employee meals.
    • Flexible scheduling.
    • A real path to grow into bartending, shift supervision, and management in our Front of House.
