The Department of Communication & Journalism is seeking a motivated and professional student to assist with our audio-visual office for the 2026-2027 academic year with a chance of renewal. You'll gain hands-on experience with video and audio-visual administrative tasks, technical troubleshooting, and office organization--all while contributing to an exciting and student-focused department.
Duties include, but are not limited to: managing the AV office, handling equipment checkouts and returns, assisting podcast studio and video production studio scheduling and equipment training, assisting visitors, students, faculty, and staff, filing and organizing documents/files, inventory of camera equipment, technical equipment, and office supplies, running daily errands to a variety of office locations on main campus, and general support of faculty/staff/students within the department and miscellaneous duties around the department as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Basic audio-visual skills, including computer skills and technical troubleshooting.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Printer/copier experience.
Office work experience.
Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours fall/spring semesters.
Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting students, staff, faculty, and office environments in any capacity (tech support, event sign-ins, flyers, emails, etc.)
Comfortable answering phones, greeting guests, and managing A/V office spaces.
Familiarity with basic computer tasks such as typing, document formatting, using Adobe, Canva, and Microsoft Office.
Understanding or willingness to learn camera equipment checkout processes and classroom technology troubleshooting.
Strong attention to detail, eagerness to learn, ability to stay organized, and follow through with assigned tasks.
Strive for a positive, professional mindset.
Be able to work at least four days a week. More days/hours are encouraged within the work-study guidelines.
Work-Study qualified individuals who can work in two to four-hour blocks of time.
