The Project Manager (Wind) is responsible for serving as the single point of responsibility for accomplishing project objectives and ensuring that established practices, procedures, and company goals are implemented in the key areas of safety, quality, profitability, and client satisfaction.
Travel: This position can be located at one of our office locations daily: Fargo, ND; Indianapolis, IN; Clinton, IN; or Phoenix, AZ.
Responsibilities Assure project abides by all environmental safety awareness and compliance Support and further the company culture, values, Key Results and quality management Document and communicate project progress, performance, and issues to all stakeholders Provide day to day direction and oversight of project resources (staff, equipment, subcontractors) and materials Successfully integrate resources, activities, and deliverables as outlined in the Project Execution Plan Own the project budget, cost, forecast, and schedule Provide successful management of all contract documents, risks and changes throughout the project Project Integration Management: manage the processes and activities needed to identify, define, combine, unify, and coordinate the various processes and project management activities within the project Project Scope management: Responsible for the processes required to ensure that the project includes all the work required, and only the work required, to complete the project successfully Project Time Management: track and monitor the processes required to manage the timely completion of the project Project Cost Management: work collaboratively with support and operations teams to successfully manage the planning, estimating, budgeting, financing, funding, managing, and cost controls so that the project can be completed within the approved budget Project Quality Management: establish and support the processes and activities of the performing organization that determine quality policies, objectives, and responsibilities so that the project will satisfy the needs for which it was undertaken Project Human Resource Management: organize, manage, and lead the project team Project Communications Management: ensure timely and appropriate planning, collection, creation, distribution, storage, retrieval, management, control, monitoring, and the ultimate disposition of project information Project Risk Management: Conduct risk management planning, identification, analysis, response planning, and controlling risk on project Project Procurement Management: purchase or acquire products, services, or results needed from outside the project team. We're looking for a Construction Project Manager or Project Executive (Senior Project Manager) to lead utility-scale solar projects across the U.S. In this role, you'll not only manage complex construction efforts but also mentor and empower project teams, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and innovation.
Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Coordinate, manage, and supervise the work of all assigned projects, Project Operations management team members, and support staff during the preconstruction activities up to the official hand off from preconstruction to operations in accordance with the preconstruction and risk management processes and procedures Supervise and mentor assigned direct reports, as well as oversight of the projects assigned to them to ensure deliverables are met Give clear direction and targets to ensure all project staff during the preconstruction phase will have the ability to achieve their goals and targets Establish and maintain relationships with existing and new clients - internal and external Act as a subject matter expert for other team members and colleagues within the Renewables sector Provide regular reporting to the Preconstruction leadership and other Executive team members as required Maintain knowledge of relevant industry precedents and procedures Manage coordination of preconstruction activities with the Legal department, Commercial department, Estimating department, and other support departments as required Work with the Estimating team on projects they are focusing on in order to gain early knowledge of the project to help in project planning and provide input on the initial project plan that gets bid to ensure all aspects of the plan get included in the estimate Partner with Procurement to obtain updated quotes for scope areas where materials or subcontractors are required Coordinate with the Engineering team on the initial engineering or required subcontracting or procurement under limited notices to proceed, purchase orders or as otherwise authorized by clients Establish buyout by leveraging positive 'gaps' between estimation and NTP from the owner Coordination with potential Project Operations team on approval of subcontractors and suppliers Assist the Procurement team with subcontract and supplier negotiations and serve as a contract/subject matter expert as required Coordinate with Estimating to obtain the required adjustments to the final project estimate during the contract negotiation phase Coordinate with Project Operations management team, Commercial Services, and Preconstruction leadership on Contract Exhibit creation, negotiation, and tracking Assist the Commercial Services team in negotiation and tracking of the BOP/EPC/CSA Terms and Conditions (T&C's), as necessary/applicable Manage and fulfill any pre-contract or limited notice to proceed reporting or compliance requirements with clients, government authorities, etc., until handed over to the project operations team Prepare and submit monthly reports and invoices to clients for authorized works, if needed Develop and maintain preconstruction documents until handed over to the project operations team; including the Preconstruction Checklist, Risk Register and Lessons Learned Register Facilitate Project Operations team completion of the full project execution plan Identification, investigation, mitigation preparation and cost impact analysis of scope items differing from normal conditions Identify areas of potential profit increase and preparations as to how best to take advantage of them Work with the Project Operations team to ensure project kickoff approval during the Phase Gate Review process Travel for project preplanning coordination as necessary Track ongoing implementation and closure of Phase Gate Review actions items Manage the implementation during operations of the Pre-Activity Review, Risk Management and Lessons Learned processes Report project financials during Monthly Cost-to-Complete meetings if Project Operations team is not yet assigned Initiate communication, together with the Permitting department, with local municipalities related to requirements, permitting, restrictions and construction coordination Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education and Work Experience Requirements: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Law, Business or related field 5-7 years relevant experience with 2 years of Project Management experience required Experience in Preconstruction required Renewables industry construction and contract negotiations experience preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Zero Injury principles Strong knowledge of the construction industry, processes, and project management Ability to lead a team successfully Ability to understand, use and interpret project schedules and planning tools Ability to read and understand construction designs and documents Ability to understand and interpret a variety of legal documents, including agreements and contracts Ability to handle confidential material with discretion Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and logical thinking skills required Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with excellent negotiation skills required Write reports, business correspondence and document project activities Effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, project managers, superintendents, clients, customers, and the general public Proven ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external clients Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required Strong knowledge of ProCore and document control software Working Environment: When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions and use of personal protective equipment. The Preconstruction Manager II shall facilitate a streamlined and seamless hand off between these two construction management phases; including the coordination of setup and management of subcontracts, suppliers, vendors, engineers, client contract negotiation.
