li>Manage the use of the telephone system, including 9-1-1 to: Operate properly, assure calls are answered in appropriate order (priority) as per policy, monitor call-answering time to ensure prompt dispatch of all necessary resources, and monitor and regulate any possible abuse of the phone system in the dispatch center. Sleeping-on-duty is strictly prohibited by any on-duty communication center staff, however, if forced to work 12 hours beyond their regularly scheduled shift, due to emergency coverage or adverse weather emergencies, a brief rest period will be granted (voluntary doubles and over-time do not apply).
