GPD is currently seeking a motivated Water Resources Modeling Engineer to join our modeling team. We currently are looking to add staff in our Akron or Cleveland, Ohio Offices. We work directly with the communities we serve for water distribution, wastewater collection, stormwater, flood control/reduction, Water/wastewater treatment systems, and green infrastructure. <h5>Day-to-Day Job Responsibilities: </h5><ul><li>Hydrology and Hydraulic analysis and modeling for bridges, large culverts, stream restoration, wastewater, and stormwater projects </li><li>Working with communities on environmental regulatory program implementation and stormwater master plan development. </li><li>Bridge scour analysis and bank stabilization design </li><li>Floodplain analysis for FEMA CLOMR/LOMR </li><li>Supporting the team in other civil engineering design projects </li><li>Other job duties as assigned </li></ul><h5>Key Skills/Experience that will drive success in this role: </h5><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. </li><li>2 - 5 years' experience in a hydrologic and hydraulic modeling role. </li><li>Knowledge of and interest in: <ul><li>Hydrology and Hydraulics </li><li>Stormwater management, Green Infrastructure </li><li>Collection System analysis </li><li>Stream restoration </li><li>Dams and levees </li><li>Floodplain analysis </li></ul></li><li>Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software such as SWMM, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS (both 1D and 2D) </li><li>Experience with GIS software packages </li><li>Ability to effectively read and understand construction drawings </li><li>Ability to effectively assist in developing estimates and budgets </li><li>Ability to work with minimal supervision, maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills </li><li>High level of attention to detail </li><li>Ability to multi-task </li><li>Desire to work both in the field and office </li><li>Willingness to travel </li><li>Valid driver's license required </li></ul>GPD passionately believes that everyone on our team knows they are a valued member of our employee-owned company. This role develops and deploys both physics-based and data-based models to support process design, scale-up, troubleshooting, optimization, and long-term strategic planning. The engineer also leads the creation of modeling standards, training programs, and strategic frameworks that elevate modeling capabilities across the organization.In this role, you will:1. Modeling & Technical Execution<ul><li>Develop, validate, and maintain physics-based process models (e.g., heat/mass transfer, reaction kinetics, fluid dynamics, unit operations).</li><li>Build and apply data-driven models using statistical, machine learning, or hybrid modeling approaches to identify trends, correlations, and optimization opportunities.</li><li>Conduct steady-state and dynamic simulations for process design, capacity analysis, debottlenecking, and energy efficiency assessments.</li><li>Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis by using modeling to reproduce plant behavior and test hypotheses.</li><li>Collaborate with R&D, operations, and process engineering to translate lab/pilot data into full-scale manufacturing models.</li></ul>2.
